Karachi heatwave: Five simple ways to protect yourself from the heat

Temperatures in the coastal city of Karachi will remain on the rise over the next few days while citizens have been asked to protect themselves from the heat.

A heatwave advisory has been issued in the wake of the warning by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) regarding soaring temperatures.

The temperature is expected to reach 41°C in the upcoming days.

Previously, the heat stroke in 2015 caused more than 1500 causalities.

The KMC has said that they have established heat stroke centers in thirteen different hospitals, with provisions including ORS, drips, excess water, and round-the-clock electricity made available. Dr. Muhammad Ali Abbasi, senior director health KMC, has said that the doctors and paramedical staff have been strictly instructed to remain available 24/7.

In the wake of the rising temperatures hitting Karachi this week, Dunya News spoke to Dr. Hina Hayat, DMS Abbasi Hospital and Dr. Hussain Chohan, General Physician, to learn some simple ways through which people could protect themselves from the scorching sun.
